Much ado about ... er, something

A bit of a brouhaha developing across the pond, over racist remarks made against Shilpa Shetty on Channel 4's Big Brother (see the link for extensive coverage)
Now, I don't - by any stretch of fevered imagination - condone racism ... or for that matter, any form of intolerance. But at the same time, part of me does wonder "How many of these comments were deliberately made to draw attention to a contestant on a reality TV program?"

Oh come on, folks. For crying out loud, it's just Shilpa Shetty. A down-and-out Bollywood starlet who decided to prop her sagging career by appearing in a reality show.
Sure they must've made slurs, racial even. That's how reality TV, nay, all of show business works. You work the audience. And dumb Indians that we are, we are getting worked up. Hey, Kamal Nath, the union minister of commerce and industries, lodged a complaint with the Chancellor of Exchequer (of all the people) regarding this issue. His decisions impact the lives of 1/6th of the world population, and he is concerned about the racial slurs made at Shetty, who is getting very well paid to be insulted :)
The really interesting thing to note is that the ones screaming foul are the Indian community of Britan, Indians in India, Ministers, Newspapers, etc etc etc. Ms. Shetty herself doesn't seem too concerned :)
